Recorder Pro is published by Stackwares. Updated October 13, 2026. The sections below distinguish the currently available 1.0.0 app from the upcoming native 1.1.0 edition. Check your app version before relying on the native edition’s local-only behavior.
Currently available version 1.0.0
The existing edition, previously named Screen Recorder, integrates Firebase services for app operation and diagnostics and RevenueCat for purchase management. Its published App Store privacy disclosures include audio, photos or videos for app functionality; crash, performance and product interaction data for analytics; and identifiers and purchase history for app functionality, analytics and product personalization. Customer support information is used to respond to requests. Some identifiers, purchases and support information may be linked to you. The published declaration does not identify tracking. These disclosures remain in effect for the current edition; the native edition described below does not retroactively change the behavior of an older installed app. Contact us for questions about data associated with that edition or to request deletion. See Firebase’s privacy information and RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
Upcoming Swift version 1.1.0
This description applies to the Swift successor when released. The currently available 1.0.0 app retains the behavior described above.
Recordings, edits and storage
Recorder Pro records the display, window or area you select, with optional microphone, system audio and camera video. Recordings, cursor positions, clicks, edits, captions, audio analysis, thumbnails and recovery segments are processed and stored on your Mac. Optional keyboard capture is off by default and starts only during recording after you enable it and grant Input Monitoring permission. For window recordings, keys are limited to the selected app while it is in front. Key events can contain sensitive text; turn capture off before typing private information. The app does not inject keystrokes or bypass macOS secure-input protections.
The app uses its sandbox container by default. You may choose other project and export folders with macOS file dialogs. Security-scoped bookmarks preserve access after relaunch until permission is revoked. Imported background images are copied into the project. Settings and bookmarks are stored locally. Projects from the earlier development edition are not automatically converted into the current project format; existing files are preserved.
Captions and on-device intelligence
Captions use Apple’s on-device speech recognition. On macOS 26 and later, Apple’s system service may download a language model when you first request captions. Audio is processed on your Mac rather than sent to Stackwares. On macOS 15, captions require an installed on-device language and Speech Recognition permission. Optional title and chapter suggestions use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models when supported and enabled on your Mac. Apple manages model availability, downloads and its system-service privacy practices. Core recording and export do not require these optional models.
Network and purchases
Cloud sharing, uploads and upload recovery are disabled. The Store app ships without the external CLI/MCP helper. It connects to Google Firebase for automatic anonymous authentication, usage analytics and crash reporting. Firebase creates a guest account without asking for your name or email and restores it on later launches. Its anonymous user ID links usage events and diagnostics. Analytics records app launches, recording completion/start and successful exports, plus SDK-generated usage/device information. Crashlytics collects crash stacks, device/app information and sanitized nonfatal error codes. Our event and error reporting excludes recordings, transcripts, keystrokes, project titles, file paths and raw error descriptions. We use this information to understand usage and fix failures. Advertising identity support and advertising consent are disabled. See Firebase privacy information. The app contains no subscription or in-app purchase SDK. The planned edition is a one-time paid download through Apple. Apple handles Store transactions and updates under its privacy policy. Website and email links open your browser or email app; their providers’ policies apply. The app does not upload recordings or key events. Firebase sends usage and diagnostic information automatically.
